Please take some time out of your day to pray for this precious little baby.

She had heart surgery on Monday January 25, everything went wonderful and all day she responded very well. On Tuesday Morning the respiratory tech went to give her a breathing treatment and the machine got reversed and sucked all the air from her lungs. This stopped her heart. They put her on life support and gave her 50-50 chance of surviving.

Fun Weekend

I should have titled this post Fun but Busy Weekend...

Our Bible Quizzing team went to Family Life Ministries in Bath, NY for a tournament with 5 other teams. It was a fun day for all of the quizzers and they all did a great job. I am continually astounded by all of the scripture these kids memorize, whole chapters at a time.

If you aren't familiar with Bible Quizzing this will give you an idea of how it works. The quiz master will ask a question like....according to Mark10:44 What one must do to be first? The kids don't have to wait for him to finish the question, as long as they know the verse they can stand to answer the question. They have to be able to finish the question and then answer it. This is all timed. All of these are done in random order, some will be questions and others will be quotes.

Here is Kayleigh's team getting ready for their first quiz.

There were 7 kids on Kayleigh's team, 5 quiz at a time with 2 alternates. If you get 3 errors you are done quizzing, but if you answer 5 correctly you get a quiz out and the team gets extra points.

They had 4 quizzes before lunch and after lunch they had the elimination round.

We had two teams from our group and the team Kayleigh was on ended up taking 1st place.

Then the number one quizzer with the most points also came from our group!

I've been super busy taking pictures of all the left over items from my gift shoppe. I found someone that's interested in all of it, so I am taking pictures, working up pricing, and sending it to her. Mike happens to have a customer in her area so he is going to deliver everything next week. What a blessing!! Needless to say, stitching is on the back burner for now!

The Old Farmhouse Gathering Team has been working hard to bring you another wonderful celebration!

I think winter is finally here in Western New York. Don't get me wrong I have been enjoying the very mild winter we have experienced so far, but this weekend I think we made up for a little lost time.

I took this with my phone on the way to church today. The sun was shinning brightly but it was very cold, -7 degrees!

Kayleigh just went out and took a few pictures for me.

This is how the dogs have been spending the cold days....

I am not quite sure why he sleeps like this. He's just silly :D

Jack loves to be under the covers. It never fails that after I make the bed in the morning Jack messes it all up again trying to get back under the covers.

Wow, I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted. As you can see I am still having problems with time management. This week I've spent a good amount of time getting things ready for taxes and end of the year reports for church. Not quite as much fun as stitchin...

Last night Mike was out of town and I decided to make something easy for dinner. So nothings easier than breakfast for dinner. I got this yummy looking recipe in my email the other day and I decided to give it a whirl. They were very good and a definite keeper! Kayleigh even loved them and said I need to make them often. What's even more exciting to me is they are healthy and vegan :D It always makes me very happy to find something that meets my requirements that my family is happy with too!!

Give this recipe a try and let me know how you like it.

Spiced Banana Pancakes

Makes 4 Servings

1 cup organic stone ground wheat flour

1/2 cup organic unbleached white flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp ground allspice

1 1/4 cups almond milk

3 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced

Pure maple syrup & Berries

1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and allspice and set aside. In a food processor or blender, combine almond milk and half of banana slices and process until smooth. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, mixing with a few swift strokes until just combined. Fold in remaining banana slices.

2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Ladle about 3 TBLS of batter onto hot griddle.

Top with maple or blueberry syrup and sliced fresh fruit.

I hope you and your family enjoy them as much as we did!

Last night I decided to take a little break from stitching and get creative with buttons. I love to collect buttons and once in awhile I take some out of my jars and use some of them....

and this little heart make-do was the perfect place to add some.

I added a tea stained cheese cloth tie and a rusty spring and it was good to go.

It's so hard to believe that it's the year 2012!! This past year just flew by and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Today we are trying to get back into our routine. We woke up to lots of fresh snow, so that meant shoveling, snow blowing, and plowing. It's lunch time right now and it's looking like the driveway needs to be plowed again. I am not complaining. This is the real snowfall we've had so far this winter. Normally we have tons of snow by now, but we were really close to having a green Christmas. Because we live on a hill we were one of the lucky ones to actually have snow on the ground on Christmas. Not even 1/2 a mile down the road it was all green. That's really unheard of for Western New York.

All this snow is actually perfect because tonight is the start of our homeschool ski club. It's chili night and mine is on the stove cooking. Now I need to see if I have what I need to make some cornbread. Ski club is a great night for me to get some stitching done. I am so done with the skiing and freezing to death outdoors. LOL! I enjoy staying in the nice warm lodge and getting lots of stitching done. I have an order to finish up tonight and then I will be working on more things for my shop.

I thought this was a great theme for the day..."Back in the Saddle Again". I hope you enjoy my Etsy selections. This treasury is a mix of OFG artist with some other random shops from Etsy.

I was outside shoveling the small amount of snow we got during the night and I looked out front and saw this beautiful sight. God is so good and blesses us in so many ways!

Back To Normal

The craziness of Christmas is all behind us now and things are starting to get back to normal. Today we are getting our first real snowfall. This morning we woke up to several inches of fresh snow, nice and fluffy on top, but wet and slushy on the bottom. That's not the best combination for shoveling! It sure is pretty though.

It's still coming down right now and when it's all over they say we should have gotten around 7' total. This will be really good for the skiing.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families.

Here are a few of our photos.....

One of our gifts to Mom and Dad was a new camera. Theirs stopped working awhile ago so they had fun snapping pictures again.

I've wanted red dishes for quite some time now and my parents got me a great set for 12. I have them all washed and we have enjoyed using them. They are so much more me than the tea rose Pfaltzgraff dishes I have used since we were married.

My Mom also made me a special photo album with baby pictures all through my childhood years. It was fun going back and looking at them. There were quite a few laughs at outfits and hair styles.

Then this little guy was so cute, it lights up too.

Mike and Kayleigh both go Tim Horton's gift cards, which were a big hit.

This mug was perfect for Mike seeing he shot a bear this hunting season. We will get the mount in March. I am not quite sure how Jack will react to that, I don't think Gunner will pay any attention.

Kayleigh and Mike both got several nice sweaters and shirts too.

When we got home Christmas Eve we also opened our presents to each other...

I think Kayleigh's monster hat was her favorite gift. She loves monsters and she was so excited when she realized what it was, she thought they were socks.

We should have stuck with stuffed birds for the dogs because they still haven't touched their Christmas gifts. The little Petsmart dog was not a hit. My Mom said that it might be because of those big teeth smiling at them....

You can see the teeth better in this picture. They both look like that. LOL! As you can see they were most interested in their rawhide bones.

All the wrapping paper and boxes have been burned and things are back to normal.

We actually went to the mall on Monday to make some returns and pick out some other things, along with using the gift cards. Monday night Kayleigh received another gift card so what do you think we did on Tuesday? Yep, went back to the mall. It's safe to say that we are all shopped out now and we go back for awhile.

Now I've got to get back to stitching. I have several Valentine's things that I am working on and will post pictures soon.

Merry Christmas

It's a beautiful Christmas Eve day here in Western New York. We did get a dusting of snow, so we won't have a green Christmas after all. At least not at the top of Hungry Hollow Road, it's usually quite different just a mile or so down the road. We will be going to my parents for Christmas Eve dinner, we will all go to Christmas Eve service, and then back to my parents for dessert and gifts. Mike and I decided that the three of us will open our gifts when we get home tonight. Tomorrow is going to be pretty busy with breakfast at Church and the normal church services. My parents will be coming to our house tomorrow after church for Christmas dinner. Mike requested lasagna and I got all of that made today and it's all ready to cook tomorrow. All I have to do is the last minute things and make my brown rice and broccoli casserole.

I hope you all have a blessed Christmas spent with family and friends!

Early Christmas Present

Mike and I decided that it was time for our "beautiful" stainless steel sink and even more "beautiful" faucet to find a new home.... So we both thought that would be a good idea for a Christmas gift for each other. We went off to Lowes and picked out a REALLY beautiful black cast iron sink and a really cool faucet.

Let me tell you that is one HEAVY sink!! The three of us had to carry it up from the garage and I think we could have used another person.

After a few leaks Mike got everything working without a drip. This one proved to be a little more tricky than the last two sinks he put in, but everything's in good working order now.

I just love it :D

The spout pulls out for easy spraying too. Now we use the other spot for a soap pump instead of the separate hose you use to get. I just love it....My next project will be tackling those cabinets!!

I think this is a great time for my first giveaway. It's not exactly what I wanted to do for my first giveaway, but it's still nice. I am not offering anything handmade because I just don't have the time to stitch anything else right now. I am working on orders and having a hard time keeping things going for my Etsy shop. So, this is the next best thing :) Many of you know that I use to have a gift shoppe in my home and these are some of the things I sold in the shoppe. I wanted to be able to offer something for the wonderful friends I've made outside of the US as well, in order to do that with the weight issue I am offering to drawings.

After Thanksgiving dinner at my parents we came home and put out our Christmas decorations, and I thought I would share some of them with you. I hope you enjoy!

Kayleigh snapped a picture of me :)

I don't know about all of you, but in our house Mike seems to get the tree all set up with the branches fluffed and ready to go, then Kayleigh and I decorate it while Mike gets other things out. He comes back to inspect, LOL, and point out the holes. He use to have to get the lights on it too, but we had to get a new tree and he made sure it was one with the lights all ready on.

Here it is all done.

I thought I would show you some of my favortie decorations/ornaments.

My Mom has made me quite a few snowmen, but I think this is my favorite.

I like the reflection of the tree in the window.

I love this wall candle box I won from the FirecrackerKid. I don't really have a good spot on the wall to hang it so I have it on this table for now.

I trust that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Hopefully you all didn't eat too much ;) My brother and his family came in from Rochester and we all had dinner at my parents.

There was lots of good food, along with lots of laughs.

Kayleigh loves her potatoes....

My Mom makes the best pies....

She even made me a special one. We finally found a recipe for pie that I would eat. It's only sweetened with pure maple syrup, and has a whole wheat crust made with coconut oil instead of shortening. It's FABULOUS. She made me blueberry this time, and the best thing about it is I get the whole pie. LOL! I bring it home, cut it up, and put it in the freezer.

We also went out and took some pictures for my Mom. She liked the pictures I took of Kayleigh and wanted me to take pictures some with all the grand kids.

It took us a long time to get everyone jumping at the same time.

After we came home we got out all of our Christmas decorations. I will show some of those pictures later. All the decorations are helping us to get into the Christmas mood. It's been different this year because we still don't have any snow. It's going to be in the high 50's today, it's crazy BUT it's okay because we will have plenty of snow soon enough!

Well, I am off to get ready for some more Christmas shopping!

Where does the time go?? I can't believe it's been a week since my last post, and I just don't know where my time goes...

I've been busy working on an order for three Raggedy friendship pillows. I got those all wrapped out and ready for the mail today!

Now I can get back to my Christmas stitching. I started a few snowman cnadle mats that I hope to have finished tomorrow.

Wow, I really can't believe that it's the middle of November, time just seems to be flying by! Usually by this time we've been getting some snow that sticks around for more than a day. I think last year the local ski resort was opening by Thanksgiving. I am not complaining, I've enjoyed the mild weather we've been having, but I do like to start thinking about decorating for Christmas soon. That's easier to do when there is snow on the ground.

It's Friday :D

We got some snow during the night and it sure was pretty when I took the dogs out this morning.

Gunner and Jack always like to run around in the fresh snow. Then they come inside all full of pep and vinegar.... Jack was running around too much for me to get a picture of him. It didn't help that I was using my phone and not an actual camera.

The snow makes my Christmas decorations look better...

We put them up the other day when it was sooooooooooo nice outside. It's more enjoyable to put them up when you aren't freezing your fingers off!

No Way!!

Mike called me Saturday while he and my Dad were out in the woods and he says, "I will be down soon to get my pistol, I shot a bear." I said, "No Way! You did not!!" and he said, "Yes I did" You kind of get the jest of our conversation until he got irritated with me and hung up. Sure enough he comes down the hill with the video from his bow and he surely shot a bear!

By the time they found the bear it was getting dark so they left it in the woods overnight, and then Mike went to get it Sunday morning before we left for church.

Kayleigh wanted to get her picture taken with it, but she didn't want to get too close. LOL!

It's all ready off to the taxidermist and we all ready have a wall in the house picked out for it.

Thankfully it won't be done until March....

because it's going to take that long to pay for it...

LOL!

I told him he might as well forget about getting anything else this hunting season.

A Hot Rod????

Here is a cute little story for you...
Mike was at the airport this morning on his way to get his rental car, as he walked closer to his car he was getting excited. He was headed toward a Dodge Charger and he thought that's what he was going to get to drive...

until he got a little closer and realized his car was on the other side....

a nice fuel efficient Suzuki. That kind of burst his bubble. LOL!

I hope you are off to a better start to your day than I am!

This morning I needed to grab a wash cloth for the tub and as I was going to do that I grabbed a towel to throw on the floor...

at least that's where it was supposed to go.....

instead I threw the towel in the tub.....

Then later on in the morning I decided to let the dogs out for a little run...

Gunner came back, I let him in, and immediately started to gag.

Oh my...

He decided to roll in poo this time!

Now it's no easy job getting Gunner into the tub and then keeping him in there long enough to get him clean. He's big and awkward! Needless to say, I managed and now he is clean. I am hoping Jack doesn't come back the same way.........

First Snow of the Season ...

arrived today! It's always kind of neat to see the first snowfall. That may be for a couple reasons:

we know it's not going to last long
it's a welcome change from all the rain
and we have to admit, it's pretty

In this hills, which is where we are, they are calling for possible accumulation. It is starting to stick, but the ground is way too wet for it too last long.

So we shall see when we wake up in the morning....

Kayleigh and I had fun yesterday afternoon when we went out to take some pictures. It was a beautiful fall afternoon with some sunshine that we haven't seen for a little while.

We were having some problems with her camera and Kayleigh took the lens off and cleaned it, but something still wasn't right. I had a good model though, so we were able to get some great pictures. Kayleigh is her own worst critic so she may not be completely happy with my choice of pictures to edit, but here are a few.

We live out in the country so we have a lot of beautiful fall landscapes to choose from.

This isn't one of her favorites. She thinks it's too close, but that's why I like it :D

Here we go again, ARGH, I can not for the life of me get this picture vertical instead of horizontal.
How irritating!!!!

We were blessed with some sunshine today and I was able to get the lawn mowed. Kayleigh and I also went out side and took some pictures, my first photo shoot. She is editing the pictures and I will share them with you when she is done.

Goodness, I don't know about all of you but I am in desperate need of some WARM sunshine! It's not even close to the start of winter and I am feeling the effects of the cold, damp, dark, dreary days! I take Vitamin D supplements, but I need some of the real thing!! I all ready eat a very healthy diet so I don't know what else to do to snap myself out of this slump....I don't have a whole lot of energy, I am always tired. BLAH...on to a much happier subject....

Drivers Beware! All kidding aside, Kayleigh has had her learners permit for a couple weeks now and she is doing a great job driving.
I have to share this little story with you. Last night we were going to Bible study and Kayleigh was driving with Mike in the passenger seat and me in the back. I am in the back listening and laughing as Mike is correcting Kayleigh on some of the things she is doing as she's driving down our road. He does the EXACT same things! His excuse was he's been driving for a long time and he's allowed to do those things, but Kayleigh is just learning...yadda yadda yadda....I think that goes a long with practice what you preach :D It's so funny because he's heard me correct him on the same things he was correcting Kayleigh on. I love those two and they really make me laugh. Let's just say I hope Kayleigh doesn't pick up on some of her father's driving habits ;)

Did you play in the leaves when you were a kid? I am sure we all did. I can remember jumping in big piles of leaves and I can always remember making houses out of the leaves, raking the leaves in little paths and making the outline of rooms. It was always fun. Well, the other day when I was mowing the lawn I was thinking about that...and at my age I am thinking it wasn't a really good idea. LOL! What about all the bugs, like fleas, not to mention dogs squirting in the leaves. Okay, so I've grown into a germaphobic! I didn't even let Kayleigh stay dirty when she was little. If she happened to get into some dirt I changed her clothes. We even bought her little knee pads when she was starting to learn how to crawl. LOL! In my defense she was learning how to crawl in the spring/summer and she had shorts on and I didn't want her scrapping up that soft tender skin :D

I just gave you a peek into my little world. I don't like dirt! I really need to run, I hope I gave you a little laugh at my silliness. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Country Christmas

All of the leaves are beginning to fall off the trees and the hills are losing their color.I have to admit that I am kind of sad to see them go because I know what is coming.

Soon we will be covered in winter white, although that is very pretty, it sure does seem to stick around a lot longer than the beauty of the Fall season.

While I am busy stitching things up for the winter season I decided it was a great time to make a "Country Christmas" treasury of items that I would love to decorate my home with. New Goodies, Helper, and Ouch!

Today I managed to get a few things completed. I still have quite a few to finish, but I am making progress.

7.5" diameter candle mat, $9.50

These super cute Christmas tree ornaments measure 3.5" x 2.25" have a twine hanger and would look great on a prim Christmas tree. They are $6.50 each.

All of these are available in my Etsy shop.

My little helper came outside with me to take some pictures.

He's such a sweet little guy.

Isn't it so funny how he sits like a human, right on his little bum.

Now on to the "OUCH" part of my post.......

I went to the dentist Tuesday and had my teeth cleaned. The cleaning was no big deal, she is wonderful, but I have a tooth that has been filled several times and it probably needs to be crowned or something. I think it got irritated by the extra prodding and now it's let me know about it. It's a little swollen and sore to the touch. Hopefully it will feel better in a couple of days. I did set up my first appointment to get all of the mercury fillings out of my mouth. I haven't had a cavity in a VERY long time, but when I was a child it seems like I had one every time I went to the dentist. I really didn't think it was fair because I brushed my teeth all the time and my brother NEVER had any cavities. With all the studies that have been done I know that it's not good to have a mouth full of mercury, especially for me seeing I have an auto immune disease, so I took the plunge and set up my first of many appointments.
